Praying in the Holy Spirit

Most Christians of vast denominations agree, we should walk in the spirit.
Most agree we should keep in step with the Spirit.
Most believe we are or can be filled with the Spirit.

But how many of us believe we should pray in the Holy Spirit?

Jude did:
Jude 20, 21 "But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit.  Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life."

I must always remind myself.  I am where I am today because of the infilling of the Holy Spirit.  I'm surprised at how many times I neglect this tremendous gift that yields powerful results.

Praying in the Holy Spirit or tongues is a gift given for personal benefit.  The other gifts are given for other people.  This one is for you.  If you neglect it, you're the only one who suffers.  Paul said "He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself" 1 Cor. 14:4  This gift is for your personal growth and strengthening.  Later, Paul says: So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind. 1 Cor. 14:15

Jude says, in the midst of deception and falling away, and contending for the faith... this is going to keep you strong.  This is God's gift for your spiritual strengthening and benefit.

I need it.
I believe the reason the devil loves to trip people up about tongues and cause SO MUCH debate is that he knows the power it has for people!  And we fight, dig in on our positions and name call each other... and we are the ones who suffer.

This is a gift!  A powerful Gift!  Just for me!

Thank you Lord, for it.

PRAYER:
Help me to remember to pray in the Spirit.  Like, starting right now.
