The 5th Gospel

You can't miss the amount of prophesies Jesus fulfilled in his death.

John 19:18 (ESV) There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, and Jesus between them.

This fulfills: Isaiah 53:12 (ESV) Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors.

John 19:23 (ESV) When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his garments and divided them into four parts, one part for each soldier; also his tunic. But the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom,

This fulfills: Psalm 22:18 (ESV) they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.

After he dies, He is buried:

John 19:38 (ESV) After these things Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took away his body.

This fulfills: Isaiah 53:9 (ESV) And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth.

Time doesn't permit me to list more... and this is just from John's 19th chapter on the Death of Jesus. I remember Josh McDowell saying it would be like looking for one person in the whole world and getting hints. One Old Testament writer tells you they live in the Northern Hemisphere. Another verse tells you they live in North America, another writer talks about them being in the USA, another the state, a fifth verse tells you the town, a sixth the street, a seventh the number and finally the son in the house.

Isaiah is called by theologians the 5th Gospel because of how clearly it portrays the birth, ministry death and resurrection of Jesus. How anyone can miss this is astonishing. It's like God was shouting to us for centuries and when He came they still missed Him.

Then, as if the written text we have is not enough, the Dead Sea Scrolls are found in 1946 and verify word for word most of the Old Testament writings in our Bibles. Not only that, but Isaiah is the largest, most complete and most well preserved of all of them! Again, God has been shouting to us that Jesus Christ is His Son!

How hardened the human heart is not to simply open our eyes and see.

Thankfully, if you believe, you're eyes are open and the more you read and study the scriptures, there can be no more proof to show you that Jesus is God the Son sent to save us, the Messiah of Heaven who delivers us from death and hell.
