To See God Work a Miracle In Your Life

I don't want to go to far in creating some sort of pseudo Christian "magic formula" to get what we want from God.  But the birth of John the Baptist was a miracle which happened when certain things came together.  It should be noted that the miracle Zachariah and Elizabeth received wasn't even something the texts mentioned them asking for.  So again, this is not twisting the arm of God.

Luke 1:8–11 (ESV) Now while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty, 9 according to the custom of the priesthood, he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense. 10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense. 11 And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

First, Zechariah and Elizabeth were devout people "walking blamelessly in all the commandments and statutes of the Lord." VERSE 7.

But also:
Verse 8 says he was serving before God according to order.  God blessed those who serve Him faithfully.
He was chosen by lot - which means there was some semblance of timing. This is often how God works as He has placed us where we are for His purpose... (Acts 17:26).
He was burning incense which represents worship.  God responds to worship.
Last, people were praying for him intercessory style.  God responds to prayer.

THEN an angel appeared before him.

Do you want to see God work miraculously in your life?  I would suggest you can't go wrong when you follow this example.
  1. Walk in righteousness before the Lord.  Do what He says.  You can't expect God to work miraculously when you are ignoring His law of nature and behavior.
  2. Serve in the house of God and be faithful in what He has given you to do.
  3. Worship God regularly and enthusiastically. God responds to worship. Jesus was responsive to those who called on Him as "Savior" and "King."
  4. Pray.  Get others praying for you.  Billy Graham once said "Heaven is full of answers to prayer that were never spoken."
God could have chosen anyone and anytime to bring about the miraculous birth of John the Baptist.  But He chose a man who was doing his duty, worshiping and obeying Him.  Too many people want God to do things for them without any part of theirs being played.  They will never see anything!

If you want a miracle.  If you want to experience the Power of God.  Doing what God wants and serving God's house and prayer will definitely not hurt your chances.

PRAYER:
Father, I honor you and worship you.  I want to continue serving you and working according to your plan and purpose.  I ask for nothing other than the privilege to be used by you as you see fit.  May your plan be fulfilled in my life for this generation. In Jesus' Name.
