Don't Quit in the Dip

Dips happen. They are inevitable in whatever you put your hand to do. If you're ever going to step out for God, whether it be starting a business, church or class, entering marriage, beginning parenting or the adoption process ... whatever it may be, get ready for some dips.

But please note in the dip: You MUST NOT quit.

Moses steps up to the plate against this own desires to do what God wants. He approaches Pharaoh ONCE and all hell breaks loose. Pharaoh turns on the Israelites and the Israelites turn on him.

Dips are inevitable. And they can prove incredible. The people who give in to the dip often don't realize what is about to happen in their lives! A dip is by definition and temporary event. It comes and goes. Those who press through the dips get to new heights.

This is especially true for God's chosen!
Moses does what we need to do in the dip. He goes to God and he gets a firm reminder from God about what He is going to do. God starts to talk about Himself and what He's promised and how it's going to happen because of who He is!

Usually the only way we get to know God is by going through the dips. Notice all the things God says.

Exodus 6:2–9 (ESV) God spoke to Moses and said to him, “I am the LORD. 3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself known to them. 4 I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they lived as sojourners. 5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the people of Israel whom the Egyptians hold as slaves, and I have remembered my covenant. 6 Say therefore to the people of Israel, ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment. 7 I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who has brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. 8 I will bring you into the land that I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. I will give it to you for a possession. I am the LORD.’ ” 9 Moses spoke thus to the people of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses, because of their broken spirit and harsh slavery.

Those are 8 jam-packed verses about Who God is. Notice the repeated refrain, "I am the Lord." In other words, Moses, it's about knowing who God is in the dip. That's what dips are for. We know this because right here is where God lets Moses know that He's revealed Himself to Moses in a way no other has yet experienced.

This is a constant theme of scripture... the more you know of God, the more God is expecting from you. He doesn't reveal Himself for nothing. He isn't thrilled with how much Bible knowledge we possess. He wants us to walk according to it in faith. God's revelation of Himself is always for the driving thrust for acting on His behalf. Those who KNEW the Lord did wonders for the Lord. The disciples were powerful because they spent time with Jesus. David was powerful in battle because he was a man of prayer and devotion to God. Jesus constantly got alone with the Father and walked in the Power of the Holy Spirit.

Thank God for the dips! Those are moments to dig! Dig down deep into God, know Who He is at your weakest moments. And watch how much happens when you become more confident in HIS being and power.

Amen.
